3, 2, 1 Blast Off for NEW Members

It’s time for the Fall Member Recruitment Campaign!  Don’t miss out on the opportunity to earn a prize for telling your friends about EWGA!

That’s right – just tell your friends and colleagues about EWGA, recruit 3 new members from September 1 through December 15 – and you’ll receive a fun, shiny EWGA bling prize.  Plus for each NEW member who joins and enters your name as their recruiter, your name will be included in the drawing to win a Free Registration to the 2016 EWGA Conference in Colonial Williamsburg!

AND, since EWGA will be turning 25 next year, the NEW members you recruit as part of this campaign can save $25 off the membership rate (valid for Classic level only).  Just tell them to enter 2015-EWGA25 as the discount code when they join online.

A flier is attached this week with all the details to get you started and help you be successful in recruiting new members to EWGA and earning prizes for your efforts.  The flier is also posted on the Chapter Leader Microsite at under the Membership area.

Inviting Lapsed and Prospective Members to Our Events

Your EWGA Eastern Shore has many end of year events scheduled to celebrate and thank our volunteers.

Just like when the year began – our end of year events are the perfect time for our active members to invite friends and colleagues to attend and see how much fun they can have being a part of this organization.

SPECIAL OFFER: All NEW members who sign up at our Fall events can save $20.

If they join online, they can enter 2014-FALL in the discount code line as the final step in their payment process and it will subtract the $20 from the total. If they prefer to fill out a form, just write the code at the top and mail them to us all at once so we know they joined at your event.

Very Important: This discount is only for members joining at the Classic level. 

NOTE: Former members (lapsed members) can return and pay the regular renewal rate – no extra fees required – to get involved with EWGA again.

Former members are not able to sign in and renew online. Please let them know to give us a call on the toll free number at 800-407-1477 so that we can update their record, take their payment, and make them active in the database again.

What happens when you make your hole-in-one?  First you do your happy dance!
And then you realize you want to spread the word and be recognized.

Through our partnership with Troon Golf, any member who makes a hole-in-one during an EWGA-sponsored event receives a complimentary round of golf for four at a Troon Golf facility.

You just need to send a copy of your scorecard, attested by your playing partners, and verified by the club’s Golf Professional (if possible).  Also include the yardage of the hole, the hole number, and the golf club you used to make the shot.

Send your information to and she will coordinate with Troon to have your certificate for your complimentary golf sent to you – as well as get you posted as an inductee of the Hole-in-One Club on the EWGA website!

Also, be sure to let one of the Chapter board members know about it so we can publicize it in our newsletter.

History of the Eastern Shore Chapter

Back in 1996, there were many corporate golf outings being held at the courses in Ocean City and surrounding areas of the Eastern Shore of Maryland, but the players were mostly men.  There were hundreds of women who aspired to play in corporate outings but just didn't feel their 'game' was up to par.

Nancy Dofflemyer saw this as an opportunity to bring the game of golf to the Women of the Eastern Shore.

The first membership meeting of the Eastern Shore Chapter of EWGA was held on August 14, 1996, at River Run Golf Course.

In September of 1997, our chapter celebrated its one-year anniversary.  We exceeded our fifty person membership goal and were recognized by National EWGA as one of the four chapters who surpassed its renewal membership rate of seventy percent.

Also in 1997, our chapter was the pioneer in teaming up with the American Cancer Society and held a successful golf tournament, surpassing a goal of $15,000, with all proceeds going toward the fight against breast cancer.

Today, our chapter continues to pursue the same goals that were set by our Board back in 1996.  One of the major goals being:  "To create opportunities for women of every ability level to bond, network and enjoy the game of golf."

We currently maintain a strong membership that exceeds 300 and work diligently to promote leagues, clinics and social events to bring more women into our organization.
