Welcome to the 2017 EWGA Ladies Golf Season! This year marks our 21st year as the Eastern Shore Chapter of EWGA. We are looking forward to special happenings and events during the year.

Our Delaware 9-Hole Fun League begins on Monday June 5, 2017 at Salt Pond Golf Course. We will be playing at two courses this season. Both courses are located in Delaware. Our play will alternate between Salt Pond in Bethany Beach and Plantation Lakes in Millsboro. Our 12-week season runs from June 5-August 28, 2017.

Salt Pond Golf Club, 400 Bethany Loop, Bethany Beach, DE 19970.

Phone: 302-539-7525

Plantation Lakes Golf and Country Club, 20301 Charlotte Blvd., Millsboro, DE 19966.  Phone: 302-933-8072

Our first Fun League golf date will be Monday, June 5th at Salt Pond Golf Club. We will meet at 3:00 PM in the Pro Shop meeting room area. Upon arrival, please have your clubs ready to be dropped off at the bag-drop area. Proceed to the Pro Shop to pay your $20 fee by credit/debit card or cash. Come into the meeting room for our “meet and greet” session. You will receive information about our league. You will also have a chance to ask questions and get information on tipping and suggested golf apparel. During that time, a photo will be taken for our newsletter.

Clinics will be offered most weeks. The cost of all ½-hour clinics at our courses will be $10 cash paid directly to the Pro. Ladies wishing not to attend the ½-hour clinic can warm-up on the driving range or putting green. Buckets of balls are $5.00 at Salt Pond. A bag of 20 balls is free at Plantation Lakes.

You will receive an email “Evite” invitation during the week before June 5th. And every week thereafter you will receive an Evite invitation in your email. Please respond with a “yes” or “no” reply only. Please do not respond “maybe”.  Be sure to click the response tab in order for your reply to be registered. All responses should be sent no later than Saturday evening. You may also comment on your reply if you feel necessary. Do not delete your Evite until after the event. You may want to change your response before Saturday evening and you can do so by going back into the Evite and changing your response.

Tee times are 3:30 PM. Proceed to the cart with your name and first hole listed. We will have a “shot-gun” start. Someone in your group should keep score. Scorecards will be on the cart. The scorekeeper should list first and last names on the card and the date. At the end of play, scorekeepers should tally up the score. If you want to keep your own score, you can get a card at check-in time for your own personal use. You don’t have to keep score but it is encouraged. For your own records you can even take a photo of the completed card.

Following each Monday’s play, a group may want to get together to have a bite to eat or refreshment. We will discuss that at the pre-play meeting.

RAIN/CANCELLATION POLICY:  In case of light rain, we will be playing golf. If you anticipate bad weather and plan to cancel, you can revisit you're Evite and change your response up until Saturday evening. After that time you will have to call the Pro Shop at our course of play for that week and let them know you are cancelling.  If there is heavy rain and/or lightning, golf will be cancelled. We will let you know by email.  Please let one of the Captains or the Pro Shop know if you are cancelling.  If we are not apprised of your cancellation, you will receive a warning. On the 3rd occurrence, you will be removed from the league.

PRIZES – There will be one member who will be awarded a prize at the End of Season Celebration. Eligibility requirement is 50% play (6 weeks out of 12 week season). The prize will be awarded to most pars scored during the season.  All score cards with pars recorded must be turned in at the end of play each Monday.  If someone opts out of turning in a card or not keeping score, she will not be eligible.
